In order to avoid traffic jams during the VIP and VVIP movements in the holy city, the traffic police has come up with a novel plan of installing LED signboards.
ADCP (traffic) Dhruman Nimbale said 12 LED signboards would be procured for the purpose. He said these signboards would guide the traffic to take diversion in case of VIP movement.
Heavy rush and traffic jams are witnessed on main roads of the city during the visit of various dignitaries. The problem is experienced even during the arrival of politicians after they are elevated to senior positions in their respective parties. They usually come in a procession to pay obeisance at the Golden Temple.
Traffic jams are often witnessed at Bhandari Railway Overbridge, Hall Gate, Crystal Chowk, Queen’s Road, Ram Bagh Road and the surrounding areas.
