PETALING JAYA: Managepay Systems Bhd’s (MPay) 29.5% associate MSC Trustgate.com Sdn Bhd has received a new five-year certificate authority (CA) operating license from Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
Trustgate’s core business is to provide digital certification services, cryptographic products and security software development services.
The company, which was incorporated in 1999, was granted its CA license under the Digital Signature Act 1997 (DSA) by MCMC.
In a statement last Friday, MPay said the CA operating license is only one of three currently authorised by MCMC in Malaysia.
“With the renewed CA license for the period up to July 24, 2020, Trustgate can continue its existing business offerings partnering Symantec and GlobalSign to issue secure socket sayer certificates for web domain servers, hosting managed public key infrastructure to issue digital certificates for individual subscribers of internet banking system and government service portal.”
“The five-year period enables Trustgate to provide new cyber security products and services offerings to tackle the marked increase in the number of major data breaches and cyber attacks, including high-profile penetrations at major retailers and attacks on media and government websites,” it added.
MPay said the license renewal would also enable Trustgate to expand its cyber security service offerings and is expected to contribute positively to the company’s future earnings.
