'Mujra' revelry: 8 GHMC staff suspended

As many as eight Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) employees were suspended on Sunday for indulging in obscene activities at a 'mujra party' at a farm house at Khanamet on Saturday night.

Hyderabad: As many as eight Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) employees were suspended on Sunday for indulging in obscene activities at a 'mujra party' at a farm house at Khanamet on Saturday night.
Acting on a tip-off, Special Operations Team (SOT) sleuths of the Cyberabad police arrested 23 persons, including the eight employees and six women, from Fatima Guest House.

The GHMC employees included Circle XI (Serilingampally) tax inspector Sanjay Kumar, Circle XII (Serilingampally) tax inspector Padma Bhushan Raju, Circle XIV (Kukatpally) B tax inspector Ravindrudu, bill collectors - Krishna, Narahari, Babu Rao, Jnaneswar and Ranveer Bhupal. Another GHMC bill collector Yadgiri managed to escape from the spot. The others were six women in their 30s from Hyderabad called by the event organizer, Md Masaq, to perform obscene dances and sexual acts, and nine men who were friends of the erring GHMC employees. Police seized 22 cell phones, three cars, three bikes, condoms, 10 liquor bottles and Rs 21,150 cash.
Police sources said the party was hosted with funds given to them by some victorious corporators.
Police have registered a case under sections 188 (violating an order lawfully promulgated by a public servant), 294 (obscene activities) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 34-A of the AP Excise Act against the culprits, including farm house owner Zareena.
