Lucknow: Wanted by Central Bureau of Investigation for making obscene clips, a graduate was arrested from Muzaffarnagar on Sunday by UP Special Task Force (STF). Reward of Rs 1 lakh had been announced by CBI last year on the graduate identified as 24-year-old Sumit.
Sharing details, SSP STF Amit Pathak said Sumit and five others identified as Sanjay Singh, Neeraj Kumar, Anuj, Vinod and Rajendra made obscene video clips and circulated them on Internet.
All six were arrested from Badgaon area in Saharanpur on Sunday noon. The crime was executed from an agricultural field located in Badgaon over three years back.
The clip that went viral on Internet was part of the 12 set of CDs that Hyderabad based NGO Prajwala had submitted before Apex Court in 2015 to curb sex related cyber crime. CBI took over investigations after registering criminal cases in New Delhi.
Through the video footage, CBI was able to pin down the main culprit Sumit and shared his photograph with UP police, since the survivor and perpetrators in the video spoke Hindi. Sleuths narrowed down their search to five west UP districts on the basis of the dialect used. The girl targeted was also traced. It was found that the crime took place under the jurisdiction of Badgaon police station but no FIR was registered as the girl did not approach cops then. A member of the group was known to the girl and convinced her to come to the fields. Later, his friends appeared out of nowhere and overpowered the girl to film obscene video. Sumit was at the forefront of the act. "He is unemployed, but assists his father in business," said Mishra.
