Defending champions Surrey Storm picked up their first Vitality Superleague victory of the season as they proved too strong for Team Northumbria on Friday.

Leading 27-20 at the interval, Surrey eased through the gears in quarters three and four to limit Northumbria to just 15 points and close out a 57-35 victory.

After a narrow Super Saturday defeat to Team Bath on the opening weekend, the Storm bounced back in perfect style with a comfortable win.

Goal keeper Hannah Reid was the star of the show as she led a strong defensive performance that kept the Northumbria attack quiet throughout all four quarters.

Pamela Cookey ensured the Storm attack was equally as impressive, her 100% shooting record (23 from 23), coupled with 34 goals from Rachel Dunn enough to see off Northumbria after a close first half.

For Northumbria it is another defeat after being beaten 59-37 by Manchester Thunder last weekend - the girls from the North East will look to bounce back when they host Hertfordshire Mavericks live on Sky Sports on Monday.
