Militants kill vaccination workers in Afghanistan

Three vaccinators were found dead after being abducted by militants in eastern Kunar province, an official said on Sunday.

The three vaccination workers had been kidnapped nearly two weeks ago from the Ghaziabad district of Kunar province, the provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Abdul Habib Syedkhel told Pajhowk Afghan News.

The health workers were killed last night and their dead bodies were recovered from Abargul area of the same district, he said.

However, the acting public health director, Dr. Ihsanullah Fazli confirmed the abduction of two vaccinators, Abdul Khaliq and Hazirullah 12 days ago from Ailgal clinic of Ghaziabad district, but had no information about the death of the workers.

No one has so far claimed responsibility for the murders.
