Boys’ basketball: Fairfax, Westchester score impressive wins over Southern Section teams

Fairfax and Westchester, representing the City Section. more than held their own on Saturday at the Nike Extravaganza at Mater Dei High.

Freshmen Ethan Anderson and Robert McRae each scored 15 points to help Fairfax defeat Los Alamitos, 65-56. Eyassu Worku led Los Alamitos with 27 points.

Westchester routed Orange Lutheran, 70-50. Keith Fisher led a balanced attack with 13 points. Chris Williams had 13 points for Orange Lutheran. Fairfax and Westchester will play on Friday at Westchester.

Chino Hills improved to 25-0 with a 98-81 win over Bishop Gorman. Lonzo Ball had 27 points, LaMelo Ball 25, LiAngelo Ball 22 and Eli Scott 22.

Santa Margarita defeated Etiwanda, 60-45. Kaden Rasheed scored 15 points. Miles Oliver led Etiwanda with 13 points.

Corona Centennial defeated defeated De La Salle, 50-46. Jordan Griffin had 20 points and Ike Anigbogu added 11 points.

Ayala defeated Servite, 62-33. John Edgar had 25 points.

In the Gold Coast League tournament, Sierra Canyon defeated Paraclete, 75-32. Michael Feinberg scored 17 points. Campbell Hall defeated Crossroads, 84-53. Mike Meadows scored 23 points and Jordan Cohen added 22 points.

Windward defeated McAuliffe, 98-65. Payton Moore scored 23 points and Jules Bernard and Shareef O’Neal added 20 points apiece. Viewpoint defeated Brentwood, 51-43. Christian Juzang finished with 15 points. Braelee Albert had 19 points for Brentwood. Viewpoint will play at Sierra Canyon on Tuesday.

Oak Park defeated Tahquitz, 76-58. Riley Battin finished with 27 points. Wes Slajchert added 17 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists.

Redondo defeated Mira Costa, 81-46. Ryse Williams and Wesley Gilbert each had 12 points.

Village Christian defeated Heritage Christian, 73-64. Isaac Etter had 26 points.
