Woman falls to death from terrace, husband detained

A 33-year-old woman died after she allegedly fell from the terrace of her residence here on Friday. The building in Brindavan Nagar was under construction. According to police, the deceased has been identified as Amudha.

Her husband, Pradeep, who works in a private firm, has been detained for questing after his in-laws lodged a complaint with the police.

The police said on Friday, around 2.30 p.m., she went to the terrace which has no railings or walls, and lost her balance and fell down.

Pradeep told the police that he was inside the house having lunch, but when he came out of the house, he found his wife had fallen from the parapet. He rushed her to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Her parents, who learnt of her death upon reaching the hospital, started accusing Pradeep to have killed her. They approached the police and lodged a complaint against him. The police mentioned that there were no external injuries on the body and that they were waiting for the post-mortem report to ascertain the cause of the death. The police have taken Pradeep into custody.
