“The Grandparents Day” was celebrated at the Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV), Forest Research Institute (FRI), with grandeur and enthusiasm here today.

The programme was inaugurated with the lighting of traditional lamp by Principal Dr Charu Sharma. Manjul, headmistress of the school, welcomed grandparents on the occasion.

Students presented various dances, action songs etc on the occasion. A session of games, including musical chair, passing the parcel and completion of Hindi songs, were arranged for the audience.

Grandparents sang songs, bhajans, cracked jokes and expressed their views upon the current education system and also the indispensable role of the KV FRI in grooming their wards’ personality.

A plantation drive was organised where tiny tots took oath of taking care of the plantlets. A short documentary of students’ participation in diverse school activities was shown to them. Mohini Pant was adjudged the most active grandparent on the occasion.

Principal Dr Charu Sharma emphasised upon the role of grandparents in a joint family. She said grandparents were the cultivators of ‘Sanskars’ and their participation in imbibing cultural values amongst children was of core importance.

Vice-principal Sunil Kumar Joshi appreciated the efforts of students and teachers. Vinita Karnwal proposed the vote of thanks.
