Race of greyhounds, elderly people major attractions on third day

Ludhiana: The third day of the 80th Kila Raipur Games was flagged off on a high note, wherein the greyhound race was one of the major attractions. Then, the race of the elderly people in the age group 70-75 was another centre of attraction. Ajit Singh, a popular elder athlete, who had won around 70 national championships earlier, won this event too.
In the greyhound race, beating as many as 100 dogs, Johal Brother's 'Bullet' was the winner. Athletics, hockey, kabaddi, and tractor-tyre race were the top competitive sports played on Saturday.
The tractor-tyre rolling race also excited many people. The Bhagwant Memorial Gold Cup men's hockey quarter-final tournament saw the New Gurdaspur Hockey Club beating Government School (Kila Raipur) 1-0, Grewal Sports Association (Kila Raipur) bt Chhaajri 1-0, Hans Kalan Club bt Jarkhar Academy 6-4 in the penalty shootout, and SGPC (Amritsar) bt Grewal Hockey Academy 1-0. The final winner will be declared in the final match to be held on Sunday. 'Baazigars' enthralled the audience once again with amazing feats like bending the rod with one's throat, and holding a ladder in the mouth while balancing it. Martial arts by Nihang Singh drew repeated applause from the big gathering.
