Mango group led by Baldev Singh Walia has won the Punjab Agriculture University (PAU) Employees Union elections, the results of which were announced on Saturday.

Ludhiana: Mango group led by Baldev Singh Walia has won the Punjab Agriculture University (PAU) Employees Union elections, the results of which were announced on Saturday.
Four groups, including PAU Employees Form, PAU Employees Progressive Front, PAU Employees Democratic Front and PAU Employees Sewa Dal, fought in an alliance under the leadership of Baldev Singh Walia.

After the announcement of the result, Walia was elected as president of the union, Lal Bahadur Yadav as senior vice-president (O), Gurpreet Singh Dhillon as senior vice-president (R), Jaipal Singh as vice-president (O), Manmohan Singh as general secretary, Parveen Kumar Garg as treasurer, Kuldeep Singh Tung as secretary(I), Surinder Singh as secretary(II), Harminder Singh as joint treasurer (I), Jaswinder Singh as joint treasurer (II), Guriqbal Singh as organizing secretary (O), Roshan Lal as organizing secretary (R), Navneet Sharma as prop secretary (O) while Satnam Singh has been made prop secretary (R).
While announcing the results of the election, Chairman of the election committee Gurjit Singh said there was a tie for the post of vice-president (R) and the decision on the same would be made by the winning groups.
According to the members of the election committee, a total of 1,101 votes were cast out of 1,170 while 28 postal ballots were received.
