No arrest in LJP neta murder case

Patna: Rakesh Roshan, the son of slain 'bahubali of Raghopur' Brijnathi Singh, has named four persons in the FIR lodged with police in connection with the murder. Nearly 10 criminals shot Singh, against whom at least 20 cases of murder and dacoity were pending, on Friday afternoon near Kachchi Dargah under Didarganj police station area in the state capital.
Roshan has named Munna Singh, Ranvijay Singh, Subodh Rai and Sunil Rai, while some others remain unnamed. Police are yet to make any arrest in this case.
ADG (HQ) Sunil Kumar on Saturday said, "Prima facie, the murder took place due to political rivalry between the deceased and Munna Singh at Raghopur. Special teams comprising Patna and Vaishali police are conducting raids but the named accused are absconding."
Meanwhile, the last rites of Singh was performed at Raghopur around 2pm on Sunday amid tight security to prevent any untoward incident.
Roshan and Singh's other family members alleged that Patna SSP Manu Maharaaj did not pay any heed to their repeated requests for bodyguards and arms licence. to this, the ADG said, "We will look into the allegations."
"Nearly 10 cases of extortion, attempt to murder and violation of Arms Act have been lodged against Munna Singh in Vaishali. Procuring sophisticated semi-automatic firearms like AK-47 is a bit unlikely for criminals like him. However the ballistic report from FSL is awaited." A team of Special Task Force is also assisting the district police in search of the suspects.

SSP Maharaaj said, "Apart from conducting raids, the CCTV footage of the bank from where the killers are said to have come out, was also being checked to identify the shooters. The statements of eyewitnesses are also being recoded."
Puja Devi, wife of Singh's brother who received two bullets, is out of danger but still in the hospital, while Singh's wife Veera Devi has been discharged from hospital.
Police have recovered 30 empty cartridges from the spot. Hospital sources said the deceased had at least 16 gunshot injuries.
"The deceased was earlier a constable with Bihar police and was dismissed from service for indiscipline while he was posted in Supaul district," said the ADG.
