Skippper Shahid Afridi won the toss and chose to field first

DUBAI (Dunya News) - Peshawar Zalmi beat Lahore Qalandars in the fifth match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) T20. Peshawar Zalmi won the toss and its skipper Shahid Afridi invited Qalandars to bat first, reported Dunya News.

The fifth match of PSL T20 was played between Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Skipper of Peshawar Zalmi, Shahid Afridi, had won the toss and chose to field first. Lahore Qalandars were led by Pakistan National One Day team s skipper Azhar Ali. 

Lahore Qalandars faced a collapse in the beginning of the innings when their 3 wickets fell for only 4 runs on board. Azhar Ali played a very slow innings which also hampered Qalandars  expedition. Peshawar Zalmi s bowlers never let Qalandars breathe and they never crossed run rate of 6 throughout their innings. Qalandars set an easy target of 118 in the end.

Zalmi never lost their nerves and kept their control on the match during their entire innings. Smooth opening by Tamim and Hafeez gave Zalmi a strong base. In the end, Zalmi easily achieved the target with 9 wickets in hand and 4 overs to spare.

Overs 13: Zalmi cross 100. From here the target seems at an arm s length. Zalmi at 100/1.

Overs 11.1: Beautifully done by Rizwan, WICKET finally for Qalandars. Rizwan stumps Hafeez off Mendis bowling. Zalmi at 95/1.

Overs 10: It looks too easy from here, Zalmi keeping their cool. Going steadily towards the target with no wicket loss. Zalmi at 74/0.

Overs 6: Hafeez and Tamim steadily taking Zalmi towards the target. All cards by Qalandars failing. Zalmi at 44/0.

Overs 2: Tamim and Hafeez take on Qalandars  bowlers as Zalmi begin their innings with confidence. Zalmi at 23/0.


Lahore Qalandars Innings


Overs 20: Qalandars were reduced to 117 with a loss of 6 wickets by Zalmi bowlers.

Overs 18.5: Karmran Akmal takes a sharp catch behind the wickets dismissing Dwayne Bravo. Bravo was looking dangerous as he had hit 16 runs in this over so far against Wahab. Qalandars at 107/6.

Overs 17: Lahore Qalandars fail to recover after the initial collapse. Peshawar Zalmi have reduced their run rate to 5 runs an over. Qalandar at 85/5.

Overs 14.2: Phenomenal bowling by Asghar, Azhar Ali tried his best for Qalandars  recovery but to no avail. He had to go with Qalandars at 63/5.

Overs 12: Lahore Qalandars trying their best to recover from early collapse. Loss of Umer Akmal hampers the recovery mission. Qalandars lingers at 50/4.

Overs 9.3: Umar Akmal s fight is over as Asghar finally gets him with a ball that pitched outside off and turned ambitiously away from Akmal. Akmal tried to chase the ball and only managed to edge it in the process straight into his brother Kamran Akmal s hands, who made no mistake behind the wickets. Lahore are now 45 for 4 and this innings is going nowhere.

Overs 1.4: Tait to Rizwan, OUT, caught behind. Rizwan looked nervous before Shaun Tait from the first ball. Qalandars at 4/3.

Overs 0.3: Delport run out due to poor running. Direct throw by Shahid Yousuf does the job. Qalandars at 0/2
