No breakthrough in Sapphire student murder
Ranchi: The death of a 12-year-old Sapphire international school student Vinay Mahto on campus on Friday has baffled district police. It failed to make any progress in the case more than 40 hours after the boy was found in a badly injured condition on Friday's small hours. A total of 20 persons including 10 teachers were subjected to extensive interrogation, but police failed to extract any clues from them.
The three teachers who were picked up for interrogation on Friday continues to be under interrogation.
City SP Kishore Kaushal said: “No arrest has been made in the case as complexity shrouds it.” Multiple missing links are yet to be connected together.
The police suspect it to be a case of sodomy and murder because strong material evidences of this nature were recovered from the room of a teacher outside whose quarters the injured child was found. The post-mortem report, which is yet to come out, has confirmed liver puncture and head and facial injuries but not penetration.
The parents of the victim on Saturday claimed several children in the last one year have left the school where the atmosphere has turned hostile. “Some other students have experienced sexual advances of the school teachers in recent past and informed their parents. The school management has buried all such developments under the carpet,” Anish Kumar, a friend of the victim’s father said.
Kumar said the other two brothers of Vinay, who also study at the same school, were taken out of the school with bag and baggage. “We will withdraw them from the school when it opens,” he said.
Sapphire international school principal Dhurba Das said Manbahal Mahto (victim’s father) has taken away both the children but not applied for withdrawal. “The school was closed for a couple of days after the incident,” he said.
