Allahabad: The creamy layer should not be getting the advantage of reservation system in the present context, said former Justice Rajindra Sachar while addressing an event in the city, on Saturday. He was speaking at a seminar, organised in remembrance of Lala Lajpat Rai, on the title role of youth in building equality in society.
Justice Sachar said that the creamy layer of the society should not be getting the advantage of the reservation system.
As the poverty is increasing in the country, there is sharp differences between the rich and the poor in the country. Giving example of national capital, he said that 40% of people in Delhi earn 50 to 60 rupees per day whereas per capita annual income of the country is One lakh.
Advocating for abolition of caste system in the society, he said that caste system has become a curse in the society and is responsible for creating differences in the society.
He said that everyone has equal rights and everyone should be given the opportunity for education. He said that the future of the country is in the hands of youths and it for them to decide in which direction they want to take the country.
Governments of the country are responsible for uneven opportunity for education among the society. He said that when the government cannot provide basic facilities like water and electricity, what is the use of making smart cities.
