India offers to open up IT park in Sri Lanka to attract investment 

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Saturday offered to open an Information Technology Park in Sri Lanka that could attract investments in this growing sector.

P&G net profit rises 62% at Rs 147 crore in December quarter

FMCG major Procter and Gamble Hygiene and Health Care Ltd (P&G) on Saturday reported a 61.81% jump in the net profit to Rs 146.7 crore for the second quarter ended December 31.

The company, which follows July to June fiscal, had posted a net profit of Rs 90.66 crore in the same quarter last fiscal, it said in a BSE filing. Net sales during the quarter under review stood at Rs 713.23 crore, up 10.74% as against Rs 644.03 crore in the year-ago period, it added. Read more here.

Delhi government VAT collection at record high of over Rs 2,000 crore in January

Delhi government on Friday said it has made a record collection of more than Rs 2,000 crore as Value Added Tax (VAT) within one month.

A statement issued by the New Delhi government said that the Department of Trade and Taxes collected the amount in the month of January and felicitated its best performers for the feat.

"In the month of January, the department for the first time was able to collect more than Rs 2,000 crore as VAT in a month. Before this, in December 2015, the department achieved very high growth of more than 20%," it said. Read more here.

Patanjali Ayurved outpaces Cadbury, Parle to become largest advertiser this week

Yoga guru Baba Ramadev-led Patanjali Ayurved has become India's biggest FMCG advertiser from January 23 to January 29, data from Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) has revealed.

The industry body which compiles TV viewership data, reported that the "swadeshi" company's advertisements played 17,676 times during the week, beating large brands like Cadbury, Parle, Horlicks and Pond's, with a huge margin. Read more here.

E-commerce giant Snapdeal has said it will take a call on Bollywood actor Aamir Khan's brand ambassador contract next week, according to a Hindustan Times report.
