Sunny packs a punch with 'angry young man act', back with a bang with 'Ghayal Once Again'

By Rajesh Ahuja New Delhi, Feb 6 (UNI) Twenty-five years ago 'Ghayal' became a cult film with its theme of 'relentless pursuit of justice' in the face of all Odds'. As its protagonist Ajay Mehra for whom all ways and means are justified in the pursuit of justice, actor Sunny Deol carved a niche for himself as an action hero who is willing to take up the onerous task of securing justice for all those who have been wronged by the 'system' even if it means taking on the system single handedly. It is a role in which he excelled in films like 'Ghatak', 'Damini' and 'Indian'. Sunny is seeking to reprise his 'angry young man' and the 'action hero' persona with 'Ghayal Once Again'. This time' Ajay Mehra (Sunny Deol) is seen fighting the battle of four youngsters – Rishabh Arora, Shivam Patil, Daina Khan and Anchal Munjal - who are pitted against the most powerful man of the city. The story of 'Ghayal Once Again' continues from here 'Ghayal' left off. Ajay Mehra (from previous Ghayal-1990), after finishing off his life sentence, starts a newspaper called Satyakam. Still dealing Ajay with the haunting trauma of losing his loved ones, Ajay manages to make a credible name for himself in investigative journalism. Working with a strange team of RTI activists, ex-criminals; and even stranger ways of unearthing and presenting truth, Ajay Mehra has earned quite a fan following among the youths, who finds his fearless and unforgiving approach in dealing with all kinds of sociopaths very inspiring. Among his die hard fans are these four teenagers who happened to have received bravery medals from him once. These four friends once out on photography expedition, accidentally record a murder on a camera. The footage turns out to be explosive as it clearly shows two of the city's most powerful peoples involved in the murder. Well what happens after this is a series of twist and turns where the four kids get entangled and have to fight it out with the most powerful man of the city. The rest of the film deals with, efforts by Ajay Mehra to save them? It also is about the struggle by the kids, with help from Ajay Mehra, to succeed in their mission to stand by the truth . The film has Sunny Deol returning to action after over a decade. However watching him in action it seems like he never went away. Seeing Sunny perform death defying action sequences is a sheer delight. His 'angry young man avataar' and 'relentless pursuit of justice' still pumps up the adrenaline as it did when he played the role of a 'lone avenger' with elan in films like 'Ghayal', 'Ghatak', 'Gadar', 'Indian' and many other films in the 90s. He is specially brilliant in the emotional sequences. The young kids Rishabh Arora, Shivam Patil, Daina Khan and Anchal Munjal -have also given creditable performances. The USP of the movie is undoubtedly its breathtaking action sequences. The 'Mid air' action sequences have been brilliantly executed. As a director too, Sunny has done an excellent job. The story by Shaktiman is engaging and keeps the audience occupied. The film boasts of powerful dialogues which pack a punch. In short' 'Ghayal Once Again' is a brilliant comeback for Sunny as action hero. Finally, he is back to where he belongs. UNI AR CJ SV 1035
