They show there's a difference between a good actor and being famous

The four film industries in South India is filled with many stars. We have the likes of Mahesh Babu, Prabhas, Ajith Kumar, Vijay, Rajinikanth, Mohanlal and Mammootty who overshadow almost all the other actors. While all these great celebrities are undoubtedly terrific actors, they are not the only great ones. There are many actors who have given splendid performances time and again, yet they have attained little to no recognition. Prithviraj Sukumaran

Prithviraj is such an amazing and versatile actor. He can take on pretty much any role as the script requires. He has played chocolate boy roles, tough action roles and even villainous roles, all of which has been highly appreciated. His roles in movies like Mozhi, Ennu Ninte Moideen, Pavada and Amar Akbar Anthony. Moreover, Prithvi is also a great playback singer. Yet it is sad to see that, except in Mollywood, where he gets some respect, Prithviraj has no takers in other industries. Hopefully, his period saga Karnan will change that image.

Arvind Swamy

Here is an actor who is a veteran in the true sense of the word. Back in the day when he was a hero, he gave memorable performances in Thalapathi, Roja and Bombay. But even in the peak of his career, it was director Mani Ratnam who got most of the accolades. After Alaipayuthey, he took a long hiatus from the silver screen and returned only in 2013 with Kadal. However, it was his inimitable villainous portrayal in the 2015 Jayam Ravi starrer Thani Oruvan that really gave him some spotlight. We really hope it does not become his swansong and that he does many more movies in the future.

Sudeep Sanjeev

Like Prithviraj, Sudeep is a known name in the Kannada film industry, but is still nowhere near appreciated as he should be. He is popularly known as Kichha Sudeep for his 2003 film Kiccha. The actor has received critical acclaims for several of his movies. And of course, who can forget his absolutely delightful performance in the 2012 Telugu film Eega. Playing a negative character, Sudeep is the one who holds the entire movie together with hilarious antics. Although he did get recognition for his performance, it was short-lived.

Bobby Simha

The tale of Bobby Simha is a really strange one. Here is an actor who has worked in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam film industries and yet is barely acknowledged. He has given fantastic performances in Pizza, Soodhu Kavvum, Neram and Jigarthanda. In particular his character of a Madurai gangster Sethu in the Karthik Subbaraj movie was truly awe inspiring. He even received Best Supporting Actor award for it, but still he remains in the sidelines and does way too many less movies. Hopefully with Bangalore Naatkal, he will get more attention.

Dinesh Ravi

Kollywood actor Dinesh Ravi is relatively new to films but he acts like a complete professional. He made his debut as a protagonist in the 2012 film Attakathi, where his performance was highly appreciated by critics. Then in his very next movie Cuckoo, he won a lot of hearts by playing the role of a blind man. The actor is also a part of Visaraanai, the movie that has been getting rave reviews and which actors Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth highly praised. We certainly hope to see more of him in big movies too.
