A 28-year-old man who allegedly shot dead a person in southwest Delhi’s Dwarka area to avenge the murder of his brother, has been arrested, police said on Friday. The accused, identified as Anil Kumar Vats, was arrested yesterday by Delhi Police’s Crime Branch. On Monday, he along with his associates had allegedly shot dead a youth, Nikhil, who they believed was involved in the murder of Sunil Pandit, Anil’s elder brother, a senior police official said.

The southwest district had arrested two accused in connection with the case within 48 hours of the incident taking place. But Anil was at large.

Anil was once arrested by Crime Branch in a robbery case in 2013. After his release from jail, he joined the Akshay-Nitin Gang. In November 2015, his elder brother Sunil was shot dead, which was the fallout of a feud between two gangs in Palam area, police said. — PTI
