The Dakshina Kannada police are breaking away from the routine while performing their weekly parade.
While it was beach run last month, they performed aerobics on Friday.
Superintendent of Police Sharanappa S.D. and other officers and police personnel assembled at the T.M.A. Pai Convention Hall to perform a round of aerobics under the guidance of trainer Sujan. As many as 150 policemen turned up for the exercise.
As this was the first time they were being exposed to aerobics, Mr. Sujan started with basic exercises. After teaching each of the moves, Sujan switched on the music. Led by Mr. Sharanappa and Assistant Superintendent of Police Ryshyanth C.B, policemen performed aerobics for an hour. Following exercises, the personnel had their breakfast.
Welcomed
Police constables welcomed the move to expose them to aerobics. “It was fun to do the work out with music. We forget ourselves and enjoyed the session,” said a police constable.
Mr. Rshyanth said they were introducing aerobics, beach run and other modes of maintaining fitness to give a break from the routine. “This helps keep the morale of the personnel high.” Mr. Rshyanth said they were planning to have a session on yoga in the coming weeks.
