It was an exciting journey into space for the born in Iran-settled in America woman-entrepreneur Anousheh Ansari who had dreamt about such a journey since her childhood. Recollecting the journey here on Friday, Ms. Ansari took a gathering, mainly of woman entrepreneurs, on another space ride, as it were.

In the post-inaugural session on “My journey to space as a woman entrepreneur” during the first women conclave organised as part of TiECon-2016 here on Friday, Ms. Ansari, who is the Co-founder, Chairwoman and CEO of Prodea Systems, recalled the details of her ride to the space station.

And, consequently, after listening to her and watching the video of her space travel, there were several people who wanted to follow suit.

Sharing her experience as a woman entrepreneur and also as private space traveller, Ms. Ansari called upon woman entrepreneurs not to change oneself for the sake of performing better in business.

“Believe me, I can do much better being myself rather than changing myself for performing better. You can’t perform better by changing yourself for the sake of others,” she said.

Elaborating on how she was able to achieve her childhood dream of travelling to space, she called upon woman entrepreneurs to give work to their imagination as “imagination is more important knowledge”. “Dream big, don’t limit yourself. Be inspired to chase your dreams and keep little reminders daily to remind yourself about your dream,” she said.

Later, in an interaction moderated by Director (Grants) of Deshpande Foundation Neelam Maheshwari, Ms. Ansari said that hope was the number one ingredient for success.
