Musabbah Mubarak Al Murar, acting general manager of Abu Dhabi City Municipality, has opened Al Khatam Park after renovation in a special event.
"The renovation project is a testament to the efforts and endeavours of Abu Dhabi Government to provide decent living for citizens and residents, diversifying recreational facilities for the whole populace at world's best standards. The project was also intended to broaden the green spaces and diversify parks and recreational facilities towards realising Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 and cementing the infrastructure of Abu Dhabi to cater to the rising growth and sustainability seen by city at all fronts," said Al Murar.
"This spectacular achievement, which has transformed Al Khatam Park into a multi-purpose park and an entertaining venue at world-class standards, is intended to measure up to the needs and aspirations of the community as it provides upscale environment and modern services, rendering the park a favourite destination for all family members. This achievement has been made possible, thanks to the directives of our wise leadership."
and the concerted efforts made to diversify entertainment and recreation options in Abu Dhabi. It also echoes the keenness to nurture an ideal environment for families to spend fantastic time at parks and enjoy state-of-the-art facilities, healthy, clean and safe environment, as well as modern services and integrated facilities," he added.
Abu Dhabi City Municipality has completed the Al Khatam Park development project in Abu Dhabi project, after constructing several recreational and sports facilities, as the park is a vital venue for residents of Al Khatam and surrounding areas. The project also epitomises the Municipality's keen interest to maintain the safety of park visitors and offer services, activities and events for different age groups. The Municipality has organized a special ceremony marking the re-opening of the park including an array of contests and community events.
The revamping of Al Khatam Park included constructing a shaded playground for those below three years, and has renovated the playgrounds for children aged three-seven and seven-15 years.
The Municipality attached due attention to the provision of diverse entertainment options to park visitors. The rehabilitation of the Park has thus included the provision of a splash park for children, and a sport zone for practicing sports for all ages in addition to a multi-purpose playground encompassing separate areas for playing football and basketball.
As the Municipality is keen on addressing the needs of community members in offering them suitable entertainment avenues, the rehabilitation of the park included the provision of areas designated for barbequing to further add to the fun of park visitors in a comprehensive service experience.
The Abu Dhabi City Municipality did not overlook the addition of a desert environment theme of the park during the upgrading of the Park by constructing a typical desert style spot within the Park such that visitors can entertain the diversity of the gorgeous scenery of the Park and experience all particulars, charm and exclusivity of the desert environment.
The rehabilitation project also included the provision of benches and open spaces for picnicking in addition to walkways across the Park enabling visitors to practice running or walking in a safe and healthy environment amid sprawling greens.
Established in 1987, Al Khatam Park is one of the oldest serving parks in Abu Dhabi characterised by abundant fountains adding further glamour to visitors. It boasts extensive areas for sitting and relaxation as well as designated places for practicing sport and children playgrounds, thanks to its expansive area of 5.7 square hectares.
