Author and Reverend Stan Johnson collects lessons on Gospel of John in new book "Sent"

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (PRWEB) February 05, 2016

Rev. Stan Johnson visited Malawi and spent time instructing budding pastors after learning that the ratio between pastor and congregant in Malawi is 1:6800. He put this transformative experience to good use in his new book, "Sent: A Working Resource to John's Gospel and the Letters of John", a book designed to make the ever-challenging Gospel of John more accessible and teachable for all.

"Christians often face trouble when grappling with the Gospel of John in particular," Johnson said. "I wanted to offer a resource to solve this problem based on my personal experience teaching to Christians hungry for knowledge."

His efforts in making this book were spurred on partly by encouragement that it would be a helpful and even necessary tool in places like Malawi. With a shortage of pastors, effective teaching materials become even more important.

In his time as a pastor himself and across his travels and years spent teaching, Johnson has also noted a troubling trend: sound-bite theology. These easily repeated and rarely God-focused remarks only hinder Christians' ability to move closer to God. Johnson hopes that he can help combat this approach with "Sent".
