Three of the nine Country Buffet restaurants in Colorado closed this week as part of operator Ovation Brands’ efforts to “stabilize and enhance” overall operations.

Ovation Brands, which was acquired by San Antonio-based Food Management Partners in August, shuttered 74 under-performing restaurants on Thursday. Those included Country Buffet, Fire Mountain, HomeTown Buffet, Old Country Buffet and Ryan’s.

The Country Buffet restaurants in Aurora, at 1026 S. Sable Blvd.; Lone Tree, 7475 Park Meadows Drive, and Fort Collins, 118 W. Troutman Parkway were among those that closed, according to Ovation Brands.

“Since (the Food Management Partners acquisition), we have continued to execute former management’s operating plan to stabilize and enhance the performance of the company,” Peter Donbavand, vice president of business development for Food Management Partners, said in a statement. “However, based on ongoing assessments of individual restaurants, it is necessary to shutter locations for the continued viability of the brands and our employees.”

Affected employees will be given opportunities to apply at operating locations, where staffing will be increased, officials said.

Ovation Brands plans to continue operating the remaining 240 restaurants, including the six Country Buffet locations along Colorado’s Front Range, as long as they are financially viable, officials said.
