All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Chairman Mirwaiz Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq Friday expressed grave concern over the growing number of fire incidents in Srinagar city and other areas of Kashmir valley during these cold winter days.Expressing serious concern and anxiety over the latest fire incidents in the densely-populated areas of Shehar-e-Khas – the business center of Pather Masjid, Zaina Kadal where eight houses were gutted and a number of other structures severely damaged in a devastating fire, the Mirwaiz expressed his deep sympathy and solidarity with the affected families. In a statement to KNS, Mirwaiz said that property and belongings worth crores of rupees had been lost in these incidents of fire.

The APHC Chairman said their homes had got turned into debris and the people left to live under the open sky.He said it took hours for the Fire and Emergency Services to control the fire and, according to reports, the nearest Fire and Emergency Services station had been recently shifted to a different location resulting in the delay of firefighting squad to reach the spot while flames of fire kept spreading.Asking the state administration to take immediate steps to provide immediate relief material to the victims of the fire incident and rehabilitate them at the earliest, the Mirwaiz said they should not be allowed to suffer in these harsh winter conditions.
