Gurgaon municipal corporation files complaint against Daler Mehndi over farmhouse
Singer Daler Mehndi is in a legal soup regarding the ownership of his farmhouse in Sohna, Gurgaon. The municipal corporation of Sohna has filed a complaint against the singer in Sohna police station. According to cops, We have received a complaint stating that the singers servants were occupying the farmhouse even though it was sealed. However, the raid was conducted on February 20, 2015, and they have filed a complaint almost after a year.
We are still verifying the complaint.
Satish Kumar Yadav, SDM, Sohna, says that the property is disputed and there are cases pending in various courts. Earlier, the land belonged to private owners, but later by the order of government and district court, it came under the district administration. Daler Mehndi purchased that land from some private owner, but the land is vested in the municipal corporation, Sohna. We had filed a suit in the court of the SDM and the verdict came against Daler. By the order of the SDM, the farmhouse was sealed in 2013. We came to know that the seal was broken by Dalers servants and we filed a complaint.

Regarding the delay in filing the complaint, Yadav said, Earlier, the complaint was given and sent to the SHO, but after verification, the land was found unoccupied. Recently, when we conducted the raid, we found people inside the farmhouse.
According to Yadav, the singer has filed a case staking claim to the land and the case is still pending in court. Officials tell us that the land is a disputed property and several cases are going on in different courts regarding the ownership of the land.
This must have been a case of adverse possession, and going by the legal process, if the transaction would have been invalid then the government must have taken back the land, said Gurgaons deputy commissioner TL Satyaprakash, adding, I am not aware of all the details of the case but I would like to clarify that there are so many VIPs living in Gurgaon and the district administration doesnt take action on anyone just because they are celebs. All the cases that come to us are dealt with neutrality.
We contacted Dalers wife Taranpreet Kaur, who said, We are out of town and we arent aware of the issue.
