The GD Goenka Public School, Kanpur, has added another feather to its hat by winning the International Quality Award in Education. Chandan Agarwal, the chairman of the school, received the award on January 17 at an event held in Goa from former Miss Universe and actor Sushmita Sen.
Constituted by an international level branding agency, the Kanpur- based school has been given the award for Excellence in Education.This award was given on the basis of the all round holistic development of the students of the school, the quality of staff, infrastructure and other parameters were also considered while deciding the winners for the award.
“This award means a lot as the selection parameters for the award are very strict,” said Agarwal, adding, “The first criteria for the award is that the school must be among the top 100 in the country. Secondly, the schools nominated for the award should prove that they provide students with holistic development. Also, the infrastructure, quality of education in the institution and the skills of the teachers is also taken into account. We are lucky that we met all the bench marks and thus were awarded.”
But it wasn’t just the aim of winning an award that led to Agarwal make his school one among the best in the country. Now, after winning the award, Agarwal is aiming at even higher standards for the school. “The field of education is very competitive now. Keeping with the times, we have now made a mobile application through which parents will get instant feedback about their wards. The app will provide information about every student about his result, homework modules and also the attendance status. Parents can also remain in touch with the teachers through the app, so that they get a fair idea about the progress of their wards,” informs Agarwal adding that a separate hostel for girls and boys is also being planned in the school premises. We will also be coming up with the facility of having day boarding soon,” he informs.
