Chennai: The Avadi police have arrested two men on charges of stealing cows. Vimal Kumar, 32, a butcher from Ramadasapuram, and his relative Inba, 25, confessed to have been stealing cows from various parts of the city and selling it to other butchers and also slaughtering them in their shop.
Police said they were acting on a complaint from Balu, a milk vendor who was rearing the cows.
Balu said he used to let the cows out for grazing and that they would return home in the evening. But in the last few days, two of the cows disappeared and he approached the Avadi police.
Police nabbed Vimal and Inba and seized a van from them which was used to smuggle the cattle. The two accused were sent to jail.
