Pope Francis has come face to face with Michael Jackson — or at least the supposed closest thing to the King of Pop himself, Joseph Fiennes, who, it was just announced (to much rancor), will play Jacko in a half-hour British TV comedy.
Following his meeting with Leonardo DiCaprio in January, the pope met on Wednesday with Fiennes, who’s in Rome for his new biblical movie, “Risen,” which was then screened at the Vatican.
Fiennes and his wife Maria Dolores Dieguez later had a private tour of the Vatican grounds and St. Peter’s Basilica.
While there were reports the pontiff would act in a film, the head of the Vatican’s communications department shot it down this week, saying the pope “is not an actor.” Amen.
