Reporter withdraws complaint

A complaint filed by taluk reporter of a Tamil daily that he was assaulted by the District Collector V. Sampath was withdrawn after he informed the police that it was a mistaken identity.

Tamilselvan lodged a complaint with the Attur police that while he was taking picture of the Collector at a theatre on Wednesday night, the Collector along with few others assaulted him and his mobile phone was damaged.

He got admitted to the Government Hospital in Attur. Likewise, the theatre owner also lodged a complaint that Tamilselvan had threatened him.

On Thursday, police conducted inquiries.

Later in the evening, Tamilselvan informed the police that he had mistaken the attackers as that of Collector and withdrew his complaint.

Likewise, the theatre owner agreed to pay Rs. 10,000 for damage to the mobile and withdrew his complaint.
