Director Priyadarshan has confirmed the news to Kochi Times
Vimala Raman as Mohanlal's heroine
Ever since it was announced that Mohanlal and Priyadarshan are going to work together again, rumours had been abuzz about the heroine of the film.
The director has now confirmed to us that Vimala Raman will be playing one of the two heroines in the film, which has been titled Oppam. 'Vimala's role is confirmed, we are yet to finalise on the second female character. Sanchita Shetty's name is on the cards,' he told us.
The film, a suspense thriller, will see Mohanlal playing a visually-challenged man, who happens to be witness to a crime.
Meanwhile, Vimala Raman, whose last film in Malayalam was College Kumaran with Mohanlal, is eager to work in Malayalam again, after eight years. 'Although my debut was in Tamil, the Malayalam industry made me a star. I always keep looking out for the right subject here and it has come up now. Also, a Mohanlal- Priyadarshan team is never something you say no to,' she says. Vimala adds that the story revolves around her character, and that it's going to be a real challenge to her to play the role. 'People always say their character is different but this is actually something I've never done before. I am not allowed to reveal anything other than that I play Mohanlal's love interest,' she says. Tamil actor Samuthirakani also plays an important role in the film.
