I like playing characters that have shades of comedy
Bala Saravanan is on a roll. He has Oru Naal Koothu, Ko 2, Kavalai Vendaam, Unnodu Ka and Bruce Lee, in his kitty right now and his schedule is packed for this month. Bala says, I play a comedian in almost all the movies. The role I play in Ko 2, which stars Bobby Simhaa, is more like that of a supporting actor. I like playing characters that have shades of comedy.
The actor says that he likes roles like the ones that Ramesh Thilak played in Soodhu Kavvum and Ravi Krishna played in Aaranya Kaandam.

He also feels that comedy in films has changed a lot from what it used to be a decade ago. We dont get a chance to improvise our dialogues and give inputs. Im a directors artiste. Directors these days are very smart and they know what they want from the actors. They know which dialogue will work, what kind of counters to be infused and where exactly to place the comedy scenes. They are very professional and are easy to work with. So, I just follow what my directors say, he says.
Bala says that music director and actor GV Prakash is his best friend in the industry. Right from our Darling days, he has been a very close friend. He has been very supportive and offers me a lot of opportunities, he says.
