Ishara International Puppet Festival 2016
5-14 February
The Ishara Puppet Theatre Trust and Teamwork Arts will present the 14th edition of the Ishara International Puppet Festival. Puppeteers from India, Egypt, Iran, the US, Afghanistan, Italy, Russia, Sweden and Switzerland will showcase traditional as well as modern forms of puppetry— from the Japanese Bunraku techniques and string marionettes to masks, objects and actors. Dadi D. Pudumjee’s Images Of Truth, with puppets, masks, objects, actors and dance, will return to the Indian stage after almost a decade.

Bharat Rang Mahotsav

The 18th Bharat Rang Mahotsav, organized by the National School of Drama (NSD), is showcasing 80 plays from 10 countries. Among the international acts are Somewhere In Quixote (Spanish, 12 February), directed by Yayo Caceres, and Among Fog (11 February) by Pakistan’s NAPA Repertory Theatre. The festival will also travel to Jammu, Ahmedabad, Bhubaneswar and Thiruvananthapuram this year.

Kathakar—International Storytellers Festival 2016
5-7 February
Storytellers Tim Ralphs, Emily Hennessey and Giles Abbott from the UK, and Puran Bhat and Usha Venkataraman from India, will tell modern stories, as well as stories inspired by folk tales, epics and legend, at the fifth edition of Kathakar. An open-mic session will be held on 6 February and a workshop on storytelling techniques, on 7 February.
