Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Almost in 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens,' Yoda was

When a lot of people think of Star Wars, their first thought isn't of the wide-eyed hero Luke Skywalker or the cocky smuggler Han Solo. They think of the jumping green Jedi who speaks in oddly stilted colloquialisms.

But unfortunately,  as great asStar Wars: The Force Awakens was, it was sadly missing Yoda, the character who was first introduced as a quirky hermit in The Empire Strikes Back and was a prominent figure in the prequel series (as well as the participant of one of the best fight scenes).

Recently, the Oscar-nominated editors of The Force Awakens Maryann Brandon and Mary Jo Markey let it slip at the 66th annual ACE Eddie Awards that Yoda was originally meant to make a cameo in the new Star Wars film. They told ET Online:

There was one point where we were actually thinking of having Yoda in the film, and then we decided not to. Frank Oz came in for a day and did a whole bunch of Yoda and he was over the moon to do it — and we were tickled pink!

Frank Oz was the puppeteer and voice actor for Yoda in all the Star Wars films.

This is probably the greatest loss for the film. Maybe in Episode VII, huh? Hey, we can try.

OK, Yoda.
