42 ponds in Mehsana-Jotana belt to get Narmada irrigation water

Gujarat government has taken a decision to supply irrigation water to 35 villages of Mahesna, Bahucharaji and Jotana areas in north Gujarat throgh Narmada water pipeline.
In a decision taken by Chief Minister in response to representations made by farmers and sarpanchs of these areas 4200 hectare area will get irrigation water through 42 ponds at a cost of Rs 125 crore. It will result into Rs 42 crore production of agricultural produce and reduction in power bill of Rs 4 crore.
As per the decision, Adundara-Kherva 27.84 km pipeline connected to Narmada main canal will have separate tapping at Bhasaria village point and 12 km MS pipeline will be used to fill 42 ponds of 35 villages. This tapping line’s Bhasaria-Mareda stretch will serve 14 ponds of 10 villages in MS pipeline command area while 28 ponds of 25 villages will be served as per prescribed command area network through NP3 class pipeline.
