Indian equities gained further in the post noon deals on Thursday. At 2.28 p.m, the Sensex was trading up 167.68 points or 0.69% at 24,391.00 with 20 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 58.25 points or 0.79% at 7,420.05 with 37 components gaining.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Power Company (3.24%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (3.24%), Larsen & Toubro (2.84%), Asian Paints (2.62%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (2.57%), and Infosys (2.50%).
On the other hand, G A I L (India) (3.01%), State Bank Of India (1.87%), NTPC (1.86%), Cipla (1.70%), Bajaj Auto (1.60%), and Tata Steel (0.89%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,248 advances against 1,244 declines.
Spicejet topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 1,261.94 million. It was followed by Jet Airways (India) (Rs. 595.36 million), Wockhardt (Rs. 440.98 million) and Yes Bank (Rs. 377.38 million).
The volume chart was led by Suzlon Energy with trades of over 23.89 million shares. It was followed by Spicejet (16.65 million), PMC Fincorp (6.05 million) and Unitech (4.65 million).
