Rajkot: Four people including three women died in separate cases of suicide reported in Rajkot district in just 24 hours.
A 25-year-old woman, who had set herself ablaze at her house in Padadhar town on January 30, succumbed to the burns at in the civil hospital on Wednesday. Prabha Zapda, who lived in Memon Sheri, was suffering from some mental ailment too and police said this may have driven her to suicide.
In another incident, 21-year-old Vijay Bambhaniya, a native of Madhya Pradesh, consumed poisonous substance and committed suicide at an agricultural farm in Itala village near Padadhari on Tuesday night. He was working as a farm labourer in the village village. The exact reason for ending life was not known immediately.
A 19-year-old woman Vandana Tadhani, who had consumed acid in Madhavipar village of Jasdan taluka, died on Wednesday morning. Vandana drank acid at her house on January 27.
In Rajkot, a 20-year-old woman jumped before a moving train near Shapar-Veraval on the city's outskirts, on Tuesday evening. Preliminary investigation suggested that the victim Komal Parmar had a fight with her husband Mukesh on a petty issue of going to her parents' house to attend her uncle's funeral. However, Mukesh, a casual labourer, refused to take her along and left for the funeral alone.
Meanwhile, a 25-year-old pregnant woman Bhavu Sareliya, a resident of Khadvavdi village in Jasdan taluka of Rajkot district, attempted suicide by immolating herself at her maternal house in Anandpar village of Chotila taluka on Tuesday night. She was rushed to the civil hospital in Rajkot. Her parents told police that she was suffering some mental ailments.
