Ra people yesterday reiterated their support for Fiji First Government saying they would never back any attempt to overthrow an elected government.

They expressed their gratitude to Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama after he opened a $2.1million crossing at Vanuakula Village.

Tui Nasau Ratu Isoa Nayasikalou said: “All those in the districts in Ra will not move against the Government of the day  and I condemn any bid against Government.”

Ratu Isoa said he was happy that the people of his tikina could enjoy benefits from Government developments for ordinary Fijians. He said the project proved that rural people were not forgotten.

Ratu Isoa said: “This is a celebration for the people of the old tikina of Nasau, this is a big thank you to the Prime Minister.”

“We have been having this prayer for a long time to ensure that the people of both sides could cross the river with ease.”

He said that student and people who sell their goods in the market will not face any hardships anymore.

“The students, and people from the tikina can access the hospital and this has been fixed especially for us the elderly.”

Tui Nalawa Ratu Epeli Nuidamu who was also present at the event was also moved.

He said, “There have been a lot of mishaps in this river where people do want to cross. We are thankful to the government of the day for the assistance to the people of this tikina.”
