The district-unit of Madiga Samanvaya Samiti has demanded that the political parties give priority to the community while distributing tickets in the reserved constituencies in the forthcoming zilla panchayat elections. Addressing presspersons here on Wednesday, samiti leader, Nagappa Tiger, urged the political parties to field a Madiga community member in at least six zilla panchayat constituencies in the district. Of the 47 zilla panchayat constituencies in the district, 13 are reserved for SCs. He said that the parties could give tickets to Madigas in those constituencies dominated by the community.
