    Third eye: Missing out on PM initiative

    Synopsis

    Telecom minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, who was deputed to Arunachal, had to drop his plans in the wake of litigation over central rule.

    Too much on the plate

    The recently-promoted additional secretary at MHA, M Gopal Reddy, is feeling the workload as he is heading six divisions due to non-avaliability of AS-level officers. Reddy, an MP cadre IAS officer, was JS handling the charge of police-I division but after his promotion, he is also given charge of Centre-state. The AS handling entrestate, Shailesh, was shifted to Registrar General of India.

    Missing out on PM initiative

    The political crisis in Arunachal has resulted in the border state missing out on PM Modi’s initiative where one Union minister from outside the state would visit it and provide feedback before the budget. Telecom minister RS Prasad, who was deputed to Arunachal, had to drop his plans in the wake of litigation over central rule. Though Prasad fulfilled his responsibility to visit Rajasthan, Arunachal was a clear loser.

    Who will head NATGRID?

    The race for the top post of CEO NATGRID is in final stage with MHA recommending the name of IPS officer Ashok Prasad who recently retired as secretary (internal security). Prasad, an ex-IB official, was handling the charge of NATGRID before his retirement. Besides Prasad, the MHA has also recommended two other IPS officers who are younger to Prasad.
