City to face water cuts on weekends

THANE: Starting this week, city homes will start facing shortage of water supply over the weekend following a fresh review by the irrigation department of reservoirs supplying the commodity in the district.
The irrigation department that studies the water table at each of the reservoirs every week has communicated cuts for the supply from Stem and MIDC to the city so as to ensure continued supply till the end of the summer season.While the quantum of cuts hasn’t been notified, the TMC water supply department has charted out a schedule for distribution to all the nine wards in the lake city.
Areas including Kalwa, Mumbra, Vitawa, Shil, Kausa, Shil and Daighar, Indira Nagar area will not get any supply for Saturday and Sunday. Meanwhile, sectors including Indira Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Shrinagar, Samata Nagar, Tekdi Bangla, GB road, Pawar Nagar, Waghbnil, Ovala will get no water supply on Saturday. However, other areas that include Jail, Rutu Park, Sidheswar, Uthalsar, Saket, Mahagiri, Naupada, Pachpakhadi and Kalwa will not get any supply between Friday and Sunday midnight.
