Family cries foul over arrest

Cuttack: A day after gangster Sushil Dhal Samant called his arrest a political conspiracy, his father Saroj Dhal Samant on Tuesday made similar allegations. "My sons have fallen victims to a political conspiracy. Sushil was close to many politicians, but his rising popularity and social activities have put them in trouble," said Saroj, who worked in the wireless wing of police.
Sushil, who is a science graduate, had political aimbitions and had plans to contest 2019 polls. He had also formed a social outfit Cuttack Yuvak Nagar Sangha to shed off his criminal image. Associates of Sushil and members of Yuvak Sangha hold Cuttack-Barabati MLA Debasish Samantray responsible for the arrest of Dhal Samant brothers.
Samantray on Tuesday claimed that the allegations are baseless. "Police had concrete evidence against the Dhal Samant brothers. The allegations of political conspiracy are baseless," Samantray to the media.
