Almost all the Pakistan Super League teams have hired foreign coaching staff and Pakistani ODI skipper Azhar Ali hopes experience of Paddy Upton will work wonders for Lahore Qalandars.
"We will try to benefit from Paddy Upton's experience. His stint with IPL and Big Bash is going to help us a lot. We have got world class coaching staff and it is going to play an important role in our performance. We will try to gel as a team as early as possible.
"The players are excited and we hope to have a great tournament ahead," he said
He also reckons that it was an ideal time to prepare for the T20 World Cup. "Our young players have got a chance to grab the opportunity. It is important for the youngsters to enhance their skills according to the needs."
Azhar added: "The young players' interaction with top stars will be invaluable. There is no dearth of talent in Pakistan and it will be a great opportunity for young and emerging players."
Upton while talking to media said: "It is very very exciting to be part of the PSL. I am bowled over by the enthusiasm shown by the young players.
"It is the best chance for them to hone their skills and impress selectors ahead of the T20 World Cup."
Upton who has just helped Sydney Thunder to lift Big Bash title, added: "These are still early days but I am sure we have got a bunch of players who will perform well in the tournament. The boys look eager to learn and hope a great tournament ahead."
He added: "For me, these type of tournaments bring some unknown players to the fore.
"It is our responsibility to give confidence to boys who are just entering the international arena. Now it is up to the boys how they respond. The tournament will provide them a stage to announce their arrival."
