Mother deserts baby girl

Vadodara: A three-day-old baby girl was deserted at Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of SSG Hospital here on Monday. The baby's mother was referred to the department of obstetrics and gynaecology from Godhra Civil Hospital on Saturday. She was admitted to Rukmani Chainani ward.
The woman gave birth to a month-premature baby through a caesarean-section surgery late on Saturday night."The baby's birth-weight was extremely low and was in a very critical condition. The nurses went to meet the family on Monday, but they were missing," said NICU in-charge Dr Sheila Aiyer.
"She had come with her parents and the trio went missing on the pretext of taking the woman to the bathroom," a doctor from Rukmani Chainani ward said. An offence was registered at Raopura police station against the mother under section 317 of Indian Penal Code. TNN
