Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) officials seized products that were kept on the footpath in front of shops on the D Devaraj Urs Road and adjoining Shivarampet here on Tuesday. This followed complaints that the movement of pedestrians was blocked due to the encroachment. “We seized several plastic buckets, empty oil tins and other items that had been stocked by the shopkeepers on the footpaths,” said MCC’s Health Officer Nagaraj.

He pointed out that several shops used up to five feet of the space outside their shops for displaying products and keeping generators.

Some eateries had also encroached by keeping chairs to serve their customers.
