A training module for those aspiring to become a Point of Sales Person (POSP) for certain insurance policies has been prepared by the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology.
This comes in the backdrop of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) recently prescribing eligibility norms for such candidates. One of the requirements is to appear for training and pass the examination conducted by the Institute.
Announcing that the module is ready and available onwww.nielit.gov.in/irda, the regulator said NIELIT will conduct the training and examination online by charging Rs.500 (inclusive of taxes). IRDAI said it had notified, in October, the guidelines on POSP – non-life and health insurers as part of measures to facilitate insurance penetration and density. “These guidelines will enable individuals having passed at least 10{+t}{+h}standard to solicit and market simple and pre-underwritten [policies],” the regulator said. The module has been made operational from January 29 and those desirous to become POSPs may enroll with NIELIT.
