Kenya set for United Nations Conference on Trade and Development meeting

Kenya is yet to know the cost of hosting the 14th United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (Unctad XIV) later this year.
Industrialisation Cabinet Secretary Aden Mohamed said the country will soon sign a host agreement, which will set out the cost and logistics.
Kenya expects to welcome up to 7,000 guests in Nairobi for a week in July for the global event including the World Investment Forum and the civil society side functions.
Mr Mohamed said preparations had begun in earnest under a national committee with six sub-committees led by Commerce and International Trade Permanent Secretary Chris Kiptoo.
“I had a meeting with the Unctad secretary-general, Dr Mukhisa Kituyi, on Monday) and we had discussions when we officially launched preparations for the July meeting,” Mr Mohamed told the press in Nairobi on Tuesday.
