LUDHIANA: Satpal Singh, a driver from Tripuri in Patiala, had stopped on his way from Panipat to Jalandhar to have his meal when he saw the accident. He tried his best to save the life of Ramesh Kumar who was alive after the collision.
Satpal Singh, in his 50s, said, "After we saw the accident, I along with many others rushed to the spot. We removed the bodies from the badly damaged vehicle.
I noticed that elderly person and two children were still alive, so we rushed them to a nearby hospital. Though it feels good that child was saved, I feel sorry that we couldn't save the elderly man and a small girl".
"A gold earring of one of the deceased women had fallen in the car, so I am waiting for someone from the family to come so that I could return the same," he said.
As Mahesh, son of deceased Ramesh Kumar, who was on his way to Delhi returned from Pipli in Haryana with his wife Sonia, Satpal handed over the earring to her.
Meanwhile, Mahesh, son of Ramesh Kumar, owner of Veena Transport Company, said they have relatives in Maloud, Kup of Sangrur district and Ludhiana district. He added after attending the bhog ceremony of late Harinder Kaur, wife of their business partner Shingara Singh, they had come to attend another bhog of his uncle at Pahwa Dharamshalla in Civil Lines when the unfortunate accident snatched his family members.
Family sources said the family was to stay in Ludhiana and Sangrur districts for a week as they had to meet their relatives.
