SFI-ABVP students clash in Jind

The heat of Hydrabad Central Universiity's student Rohit Vemula's suicide was felt in Haryana as two groups of students affiliated with Students Federation of India (SFI) and Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) clashed with each other outside the government postgraduate college of Jind on Tuesday.

CHANDIGARH: The heat of Hydrabad Central Universiity's student Rohit Vemula's suicide was felt in Haryana as two groups of students affiliated with Students Federation of India (SFI) and Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) clashed with each other outside the government postgraduate college of Jind on Tuesday.
The two groups clashed as SFI students wanted to burn an effigy of RSS.
Delayed arrival of police fueled the dispute further.
According to information students affiliated with two student wings of political parties wanted to stage agitation.
Those owing alliance with SFI wanted to burn RSS effigy while AbVP wanted to burn the effigy of Rahul Gandhi. aBVP activists objected to SFI move of burning RSS effigy. initially the ABVP members had verbal dual as SFI members refused to accept, the ABVP students attacked them with lathis.
This led to group clash. All this went on for good 30 minutes before police reached the spot. Police apprehended two members each of ABVP and SFI groups.
Though JIND SP Abhishek Zorwal could not be reached for comments, officials in Jind police said that investigations were in progress.
