Ara: A team of vigilance department nabbed an ASI of Nawada police station while taking Rs 50,000 as bribe on Tuesday.
DSP, vigilance, Munna Prasad said one Ranjit Kumar Singh of Ara had complained that an ASI Balmiki Prasad Suman have demanded Rs 50,000 from him for writing the case diary.
"A flying squad of the vigilance conducted a raid at the government quarter of the ASI and arrested him while accepting Rs.
50,000 from the complainant," said the DSP.
Ranjit said a company had charged him with demanding an extortion money of Rs. 20 lakh and he was sent to jail in December 2015. He was, however, released on bail on January 5, 2016. He then went to Nawada police station SHO Binay Kumar for writing the police diary. He said the SHO then demanded Rs. 50,000 for favouring him and asked him to give the money to the ASI. The SHO, however, denied the allegation and said since he had sent Ranjit to jail, he, therefore, wanted to settle his score.
ABVP protest: ABVP activists led by Ashish Singh blackened the face of the principal of H D Jain College, Ara, Chandrashekhar Shaha on Tuesday. The protestors were demanding the principal to ensure presence of teachers for at least 4 hours daily in college, regular teaching in classes and presence of the principal in the college office.
